Teens in truck wreck

Toraine Norris of The Birmingham News reports that a teen was killed and another injured in an truck wreck in Jefferson County.

The wreck happened just after midnight Saturday in the 9300 block of Camp Oliver Road, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Two 17-year-olds from Adger were in the truck. The driver attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control, went into a ditch and traveled about 180 feet before striking a power pole, authorities said.

One of the teens was pronounced dead on the scene.

The other was ejected from the truck and was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham and listed in critical condition this morning.

Investigators were still trying to determine the actual driver. The names of the teens were not released.
