Carol Robinson of Birmingham News reports that a Townley man was killed in an industrial accident.
The accident happened at 3:38 a.m. at the ABC Coke plan on Huntsville Avenue.
Joseph Edgar White, 48, was training a new employee, authorities said. He was the operator on a cab that runs on tracks and loads raw coal, said Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates. He told co-workers over their walkie talkies that the coal was stuck in the bin and he was using a sledge hammer trying to loosen it.
